2008 Toyota Tundra a great vehicle

We have driven over 4,500 miles in the past 6 weeks in the Tundra that we purchased at the end of August. It pulls a 5000 lb trailer with little or no effort, even up and down a steep grade. The manufacturer's tow/haul package is a perfect fit for hauling a trailer. It is comfortable and has lots of storage areas, perfect for travel. We love the maneuverabilty and easy, no effort driving.

A real truck

5.7L 2wd crew cab, Texas Edition, leather interior, 6spd auto. Exceptional quality: handling really good for as big as it was, lots of cup holders, pockets for 'stuff' abounded, nice and quiet on the road (probably cause of the bluetooth phone setup). Handled like a big RAV4. Zero to 60 about 7 seconds. I averaged 18mpg, a/c on, empty, 80%hwy/20%city. I'm sure I would have gotten a bag load of miles out of it, and oh yea, one can get a factory Toyota supercharger for this beast and make it a real monster. After the 'new' wore off and being impressed with the design and all, had a few problems I could not get around..... it stood 6' 8" at the roof. I'm a tall guy (6') and even I had to use the handles to get up into it. My shortie wife (5' 4") had even worse time. The crew cab was about 2/3s the space as my Dodge 2500 diesel, unuseable for me to haul our 2 rhodesian and 1 cocker spaniel dogs. The seats made me want to scream after 100 miles, in town, no problem however. I traded the Tundra back in after a month and a half. It would have taken me $4K to lower it (why they made a 2wd so high like that is beyond me) and put nerf bars on the sides and address the seat issue, and I got a really good deal on the trade, so, onto the next.

Wow

Just bought my '08 Tundra a few days ago and can't say enough about it. I have been in the market for a truck upgrade from my '08 Dodge 1500 V-6 Quad Cab for a couple of months and I knew what I wanted. I was looking for towing power, four doors, nice in cab features, and I wanted it to turn some heads. My dark blue 5.7 double cab TRD off road fills all those needs (my wife called them wants) with ease. The power on this truck is amazing yet quiet. It'll get up to cruising speed quickly and pass about anything on the road with ease. I haven't towed with it yet, but with the 10,600 lb tow rating my competition bbq team is looking forward to using it to haul our 8,000 lb smoker to events. The double cab is suprisingly roomy, much more so than the Dodge quad cab. I love that I didn't have to sacrafice bed length to be able to comfertably haul the whole family. The features on my SR5 are great and easy to use. Love the JBL sound system. Lots of storage. My optional semitruck style mirrors are great to see what's around me and I imagine will make keeping track of the trailer a breeze. And wow does this truck look great. The trd rides high and the dark blue looks amazing. My brother-in-law has a '07 f150 fx4 crew cab and it looks small nest to the tundra. Love it and look forward to having it for long, long time.
