Reviews for Toyota Yaris
Overall Rating
very disappointed
Toyota falsely advertised the mpg. They say it should make 30/38 and I'm getting 20 mpg!!! This is so far off - it's inexcusable. I made the same mileage with the car I sold - my 1971 datsun which I had owned for over 45 years! Pick-up not as good and the shifting gears not as smooth as my old car. Turning radius is lousy. Windshield wiper controls in a stupid place - constantly hitting them which is really bad for the windshield. There are a few other little things that I don't like. What I do like is having air conditioning and I do enjoy the power steering. I had one other big concern which is when I had to make an extreme sudden stop, the brakes made an awful noise. I had my mechanic check it out and they claim it's normal!
Hate this car
The handling is terrible, steering is too tight, no cruise control for road trips. Small trunk, it might be fine for around town car but for highway I hate it. Can't wait to get rid of it.
Yaris
I Purchased my Yaris about a month ago from Car Max. To date, I have had no issues with the car. I am averaging about 32 mpg during reqular travel to work, around town and the occasional trip to NPR or Orlando. I haven't usd it for a long road trip yet but expect the milage to increase without all of the stop and go traffic. I love not having to fill up every week and the car handles well. I enjoy the color, sort of a smoke grey and the car looks good. One problem I see is that the seats are designed for very thin people; so if you have a big bottom or are wide, it may be a bit uncomfortable and take a few weeks to get used to. Another thing that took some getting used to is when you first start the car, there is a light that reads "cool" that comes on, on the dash. At first I was concerned, but it goes off within a few seconds and I realize it is justletting me know the engine is still cold. This could b be invaluable in the colder states. There is a bad blind spot at the spots where the door closes on both sides, which can make checking traffic a bit hairy, but as long as you realize it is there, it is good. Get up and go is sometimes a bit sluggish, but it is a small car and I expect that. With that being said though, it can sometimes get hairy pulling out into fast traffic. Sound system is adequate. Overall: I love my Yaris and am enjoying this car.
