2007 Toyota YarisEx-Yaris-Fan - Chicago, IL08/03/2011
I have had it for more than 4 years, and decided to switch to a different car before winter comes here to Chicago.
I am rather tall, and this car was very comfortable for me, I can't complain about that. I don't care about cup holders like other reviewers do - drinking coffee and driving is dangerous anyway. But I do care about things like safety on the road, and this car is only good to drive in summer! Nice mileage, yes, but I doubt it goes as high as 39 mpg, even on the highways. I drive about 300 miles a week and usually fill it on Sundays, so I would say it is 30-33 mpg.
What I really don't like is driving in wind/snow/rain. 2007 Yaris has NO safety features. I have spinned several times, I have been almost blown off the road numerous times, and don't know how many times avoided accidents on slippery roads. And I don't drive fast when the weather is bad! I was the slowest on the road and still couldn't manage it. Every time I heard bad weather forecast, I got depressed that I need to drive.
Now I have Toyota Camry.
A Great Value

I had a lot of negative equity in my previous car. The Yaris allowed me to get a brand new vehicle in spite of that and so far I am very impressed. The gas mileage, needless to say, is impeccable. My insurance agent informed me that the Yaris got great safety ratings and the vehicle seems to be mechanically sound, as most Toyota's are. I love the MP3 jack and the interior is very stylish. My only significant complaints are the lack of power windows and power locks. I figured I could get these installed on my own, but found out that the doors are lacking "rods" to support the power locks and even if it could be done, it would be very, very expensive. I didn't even bother looking into the windows because I figured the issue would be the same. I should have researched this before I made the purchase, but even if I had, I think I would have gone with the Yaris anyway. It is a great overall value for your money.
2009 Toyota YarisLeah - Dallas, TX11/02/2010
I bought the car in September 2010 and I haven't had any trouble.
It has been easy to drive and easy to handle.
It's a very basic car that has a few bells and whistles. I've been happy with the gas mileage as well as all of the indicators on the dash.
Word to the wise, take some time to become familiar with the Owner's Manual. This is my first "new" car, so there were a lot of things I was unfamiliar with (read: automatic things).
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. It's a Toyota, keep up on the maintenance, park it in the garage, and it will last forever. I'm going to shoot for 250K miles.
