Transmission: Automatic Color:Gray Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (4.536 reviews) I have owned two Toyota Yaris LEs and one Sedan. This car handles well and has more room on the inside than other smaller cars. I especially like the manual drive vs the automatic for navigating traffic and on ramps! Tires make a big difference in cabin noise reduction on the Yaris so make sure you don't buy cheap ones.

Great Commuter Vehicle

Purchased a 2008 a couple months ago (January 2012) and I have had no problems since. Great fuel economy. EPA says 29city/35hwy but I average 34-38mpg combined. That's because I drive conservatively though. Easy parking, not fantastic acceleration but it is an economy car. Hoping for it to last me as long as possible, and since it's Toyota, I am confident it will.

Excellent car

Can't beat the gas mileage I'm getting with the manual hatchback -- about 36 mpg city, 41 highway. The interior is very roomy - even for my three 6-foot sons. The rear seats can move forward and back and the rear seat backs also recline. It's comfy and funny to watch people gape when our adult family of 5 piles out of this car (like a college prank or something). I can fit a lot of stuff into the back of this baby with all the rear storage options that come standard. The acceleration isn't all that great, but with gas prices the way they are, who's speeding around anymore anyway? I have power windows, locks, and the all-weather guard (live outside Chicago and need it). It has more than 9000 miles on it - I have had no problems at all. We had a very snowy and cold winter here...the only time this car slid was on an ice-packed road (and everyone was sliding). It has sharp handling - rain or snow. And I can park anywhere -- maybe even on a bike rack! haha. Get this car. With manual and power options. You can't go wrong.

very disappointed

Toyota falsely advertised the mpg. They say it should make 30/38 and I'm getting 20 mpg!!! This is so far off - it's inexcusable. I made the same mileage with the car I sold - my 1971 datsun which I had owned for over 45 years! Pick-up not as good and the shifting gears not as smooth as my old car. Turning radius is lousy. Windshield wiper controls in a stupid place - constantly hitting them which is really bad for the windshield. There are a few other little things that I don't like. What I do like is having air conditioning and I do enjoy the power steering. I had one other big concern which is when I had to make an extreme sudden stop, the brakes made an awful noise. I had my mechanic check it out and they claim it's normal!
