The Yaris is more than what you expect. I drive a 2007 5-speed liftback. With the manual transmission I get great gas mileage, and the liftback gives me the cargo space I need. With the two passenger door, it would not be a practical car if you normally have more than one passenger. No problems with the car in over a year of owning it. It's a great value for the money and a cute little car that gets lots of comments. I was familiar with the car from seeing them all over Italy and Greece and was excited to be able to get one here.
There are so many positives in this car that outweigh the negatives. Great overall layout of the car and the MP3 jack is amazing. Car runs and drives extremely smooth. I can't get over the gas milage in this thing, it's unbelieveable. The only negatives are the no power windows or locks which is kind of a hassel, but overall a great value and a very easy car to maintain and drive. Looking forward to having this car for years to come.
Toyota falsely advertised the mpg. They say it should make 30/38 and I'm getting 20 mpg!!! This is so far off - it's inexcusable. I made the same mileage with the car I sold - my 1971 datsun which I had owned for over 45 years! Pick-up not as good and the shifting gears not as smooth as my old car. Turning radius is lousy. Windshield wiper controls in a stupid place - constantly hitting them which is really bad for the windshield. There are a few other little things that I don't like. What I do like is having air conditioning and I do enjoy the power steering. I had one other big concern which is when I had to make an extreme sudden stop, the brakes made an awful noise. I had my mechanic check it out and they claim it's normal!
