Transmission: Automatic Color:White Interior Color: Tan Average Vehicle Review: (4.609 reviews) I have driven every sport compact made and the GTI tops them all. It's amazingly comfortable for long road trips, at 6'5" I still have plenty of room and a child seat can still fit behind me. The seats are amazing and I have no issues for hours behind the wheel, the seat heaters are great and go all the way up the backrest unlike most Japanese and American cars that just do the seat bottom. Interior quality is seriously Audi quality, light years ahead of others in this class. The best thing by far about the GTI though is the power and handling... this engine is massively underrated by VW, actual power figures verified by me taking a trip to the dyno put this car at around 250HP and 280TQ. at the crank.

Transmission: Automatic Color:White Interior Color: Tan Average Vehicle Review: (4.422 reviews) Second vehicle and probably the last. Bought a Volvo first, then the Beatle. While the concept is great, the work force is even better! The missing link to all this is the cars themselves. Both turned out to be complete lemons. Great idea, great people, poor product.

Volkswagen Jetta GLI Autobahn edition

Incredibly good handling, nice high rev power with the turbos, and surprisingly good fuel economy over long trips (34 mpg). I rent many "premium" vehicles as part of my job - I always love getting back in my 2014 GLI. The MK6 frame is very well balanced and the 2.0L turbo is perfectly matched in regards to power:weight ratio. The GLI is not trying to be a muscle car - but you will absolutely go through front tires every 10k if you buy a soft compound and drive aggressively.

Happiest compromise car. Ever.

The GTI is an excellent compromise car: do you have a 2 kids but still want a little performance? Do you need a good commuter, something with decent storage for grocery shopping? The GTI is right at the sweet spot for pragmatic and fun-to-drive... it checks all the boxes, and then some.

- Jon Hazen, 2013 Volkswagen GTI

Terrible structural rigidity produced squeaks.

Shoddy construction of handles, switches etc. Extremely poor electronics: slow and delayed response to GPS input and radio station changes. Worst radio I've ever used. Headlights and tail lights are antiquated halogen technology and very dull putting out too little light. Car had an excellent engine, but the car around it... Poor. I would not buy another Volkswagen nor would I recommend one based on my experience. I traded it in within 6 months.
