I drive all over orange county for work and fill up once a week. The back seat is very roomy if you plan on having friends or kids ride in the back seat. The technology and back up camera work great in my pasaat.

The car is great for a used 2009 model, Cons i got the car in Sept.2016 and now its Feb.2017 im having engine problems only putting 8k miles in it bt without that its the super dad car, with enough room to have my kids and there friends or others plus if you like to cruz with turbo this the #1

passat is a good value

I bought this car in June '05. I traded in a 2002 1.8T Passat front wheel drive for the '05 1.8T 4-motion all wheel drive. I sacrificed leather interior for the all wheel drive (cost about the same). In hinsight I might have rather gotten leather interior because we dont get snow or bad road conditions in Central/ Southeast Virginia. The leather package comes with radio controls on the steering wheel which I miss. Of course if you can afford all wheel drive and leather...go for it. Otherwise my 2002 and 2005 VW were virtually identical and I would recommend both model years. The car's appearance and interior quality have held up well. The ride is comfortable in town and on the highway. It is a little stiffer than a Camry/ Accord/ Taurus type sedan but handles very well as a result. With the 4 cyl. you do experience "turbo lag" excellerating from a dead stop, but excelleration otherwise is good, especially over 35 miles an hour. The V6 models I drove are much better pulling away from a stop sign into traffic, but might not justify the $2k price jump. I have the "tiptronic" automatic but I never use the manual function, which seems to be a novelty or gimmick. The transmission is very good overall. Gas mileage is between 21 and 30 MPG depending on how you drive. The exterior still looks like new, but if you parallel park in the City, you will scrape the rims on curbs eventually, which looks pretty bad. If you have a driveway and rarely parallel park, it's a non-issue. Volkswagens have been good to me overall.

Great at price but the engine

The car rides smooth, is quick, very nice interior, an overall great car to drive. The only problem was there is apparently an issue with intake manifolds on these cars which needed to be fixed 2 months after purchase. Warranty covered most of it!
