2010 Volkswagen CCMy Other Car is a Porsche - , 05/21/2013
Having recently purchased a 3 year-old VW CC, I can say that I am extremely pleased and impressed with the car. Being a car guy at heart (my dad was in the car business as a dealer and manufacturer's rep his entire life), I really, REALLY like this car.
I've read the reviews that complain about the fact that the car 'only seats 4 people'. Who cares? If you need a car that carries more than 4 people, buy something else.
The CC has tons of rear-seat legroom, even with the seats way back. True, taller people do have to duck a little to get under the sloping roof line, but, c'mon, folks! Unless you carry tall passengers regularly, this little inconvenience is far outweighed by the overall great look of the car.
I love the way it looks - the profile (not to mention interior materials, fit and finish) make it look like a way more expensive vehicle.
The seats are comfortable, easy to adjust, and give great support. It has a great sound system and a nifty set of convenience options.
I bought it with the 2.0 L turbocharged engine with automated twin-clutch manual transmission (the DSG). It has taken me a little bit to get used to the clutch 'engage' as you take off from a stop, but (again, as a 'car guy') I love the technology and the crisp shifting. Plus, it gets great gas mileage for such a large car - 31+ on the highway (I seem to be averaging 27-28 mpg overall).
My only complaint with the drive train is that it is a little sluggish from a standstill. However, after that first hesitation, it goes like a screamer, thanks to the turbo.
The trunk is large enough to get 4 banana boxes inside, plus room for more. (Anyone who has been clued in on how handy those are for moving will know exactly how valuable this feature is.)
