Customer Review Summary for 2006 Volkswagen GTI
Quick and fun
2006 Volkswagen GTIFast V - Texas04/22/2011
This is a great little car. Fast and fun to drive. I get 24 m/g combined. I got it with 2k and now it has 40k miles, it still drives as solid as it did when I got it 3 years ago. Very solid ride. The only complaint I have is comfort (it maybe because it has upgraded 18" wheels) - it is OK but not suitable for long weekend trips.
not so great

parts a not cheap. shock will go bad fast. I would opt for a civic SI.
GTI 2.0 6M MKV FSI Review
2006 Volkswagen GTIRasta - Los Angeles, CA08/14/2012
The transmission is the biggest change from the rabbit/golf/jetta to the turbo and lighter body version. The listed 0-60 time is 5.9sec bone stock and I can vouch for it :p Like all of the volkswagen coupes, the gti has lots of room under the hood for mods, and many mod options available pretty much everywhere. If you like sport-tuned suspension that allows you to grip turns and also feel every crack in the road, buy this car! The throttle response could be a little better but this is also due to the turbo lag. Both of these issues can be easily fixed with a few performance parts (since the only people who would care, want to make it faster anyway). This is definitely my favorite car so far and it just never really gets old. As soon as you turn it on, you can hear the turbo hum. It's got decent mileage in the city and even better on the highway (20city/30-35hwy) Depending on how you drive. I am averaging 23mpg driving about half city half highway because first gear eats gas even if you shift early. Hope this review was helpful. If I think of anything else I will throw it on the website.
