I have a 2006 Jetta Manual Transmission. It is a fun car to drive, but after the warranty expired at 50K it has been nothing but problems. It is so expensive to fix even the smallest things, and no matter how much you think you like this car, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Here are some examples of the problems I have had (and I am only at 71,000 miles): passenger-side air bag sensor broke rendering the passenger-side air bag useless (costs $2,000 to fix), rear door latch broke meaning I cannot lock the car fully (costs $500 to fix), brake pads needed to be replaced (cost $500 to fix), headliner completely sags (costs $1000 to fix), stereo buttons have a film on them that has bubbled up and looks terrible, and the trunk latch is very temperamental, causing the trunk to pop open as I drive. These are the problems I can think of off the top of my head ... this car is a disaster for your wallet. Do not buy a Jetta!
