2011 Volkswagen JettaJeremy S - Acworth, GA05/08/2015
The 2.5L engine has a nice, snappy feel to it. Plenty of power. Rear seat has TONS of room for a sedan that's on the smaller side. Gas mileage is fantastic, regularly hit around 30 even when driving on my short commute to work on a regular basis. 33-35 on the open highway between 70-75MPH. Only detractor is the cabin is a bit noisy at higher speeds, even with quieter tires.
Even with an automatic transmission, in sport mode this thing is a blast to drive. Lots of customization options available for you aftermarket fans. No major issues, I've put about 30k miles on it since purchasing it and haven't had to do a thing other than regular service visits.
I was initially a little reluctant to go with a VW, but it has been one of the best automotive decisions I have made in a while. The bluetooth connectivity, including audio streaming, the sd card slot in the dash, the huge sportwagon trunk, and a massive panoramic sunroof; this car is packed with features. The one disappointment was the absence of a homelink feature. I went from a Volvo turbo that got 21mpg average to this VW that is averaging 41! In times like these, who couldn't use that kind of savings? The move from premium unleaded to diesel is almost no price difference, and to get almost double the mpg, seems like a no brainer to me. The performance of the diesel is surprisingly peppy, and even more like a regular fuel engine with the DSG automatic. I have suggested this model to anyone I know that drives a lot of highway miles; it is the best in class for storage and miles per gallon, the hybrids might do better on mpg, but they don't have the storage capacity to accomodate large objects like hockey bags, etc.
This car is the perfect blend of performance and fuel economy. I'm having a blast driving this car. With three different drive types of standard drive mode, sports mode, and manual shift, the car can meet whatever driving attitude you may have that day. I'm a big guy (6'1" and 300+) and I'm very comfortable in the car. This car has become my favorite car owned replacing my previous 6cyl Honda Accord. Love this car and my next car will be a VW.
