VW "dieselgate", sluggish at the helm, leans in curves, no sound insulation in roof, which makes downpours sound like hail on a tin roof, sound system adequate bot not good, diesel engine not as quiet as gas engine at idle, suspension can be a little floaty over some dips in the road. Crummy Hankook stock tires make a lot of noise on coarse pavement. radio take several seconds to change channels so if you're cycling through stations you have spend a lot of time waiting.
When I purchased this car, I made my decision based mostly on the turbo diesel specification, and interior/cargo space. The ride comfort, sound system and interior controls were just an added bonus. After the first week of owning this car, I got a couple of fault codes which resulted in the replacement of a new turbo. Turbo replacement is common, and the folks at Volkswagen have me covered for free for 5 years/60,000 miles. Even during the fault codes, this car never left me stranded. I am a mechanic as well, so even if my vehicle would have been out-of-warranty, I would have replaced the parts myself and kept the vehicle. On a full tank of fuel, I can easily drive 800 miles with about 30-40 miles to spare before filling up!
I'm so in love with this car. It's the perfect everyday car but also great for road trips. I commute an hour to and from work everyday and it's been perfect. The seats are very comfortable, dash is easy to use and all the buttons you need are accessible right on the steering wheel. All entertainment is great except for the voice control. I never use it so if you rely on that look elsewhere or at least try it first. The navigation & other important features come up right in front of the steering wheel- very safe, not annoying. The brakes are a bit sensitive but coming from an old car I'm probably just getting used to them. Remote start, automatic windshield wipers, and keyless entry are some of my favorite features. Overall an amazing car.
