I recently purchased a brand new 2008 2 door Rabbit and I could not be more happy. Not only is it great to go from a gas guzzling SUV to a sleek and fuel efficient car but the ride is so much smoother and "tighter." I actually like driving now. There is plenty of room in the back seat, and the front seats move way up so it is easy for my dogs to get in and out. The hatch area provides tons of room for groceries or luggage. I have fit a 50 lb dog, 2 sets of gold clubs, and a weeks worth of luggage plus 2 people in this car, plenty of room!
This car gets up and goes with the manual transmission. Not many cars in this price range had so much hp/torque. It's the perfect daily driver or first car. I am glad with my choice. Only wish the fuel economy was better but who cares.
Great for highway use, not great for rough roads.
2007 Volkswagen RabbitLS - Tucson, AZ06/09/2012
Extremely spacious for a 2 door both in terms of backseat and trunk (hatckback). Gas mileage is good, but not excellent. The car does great for highway driving, but stop and go city driving eats up gas quickly. The powerful engine is great for driving up mountains, but the clearance is fairly low, and it does not do well on gravel roads. The car is great for long highway drives/commutes, but not a great car for "field work."
