The Volkswagon Routan minivan that we bought is a perfect car for our family. It's loaded with options and the "captains passenger seats" come completely out of the car and easily go back in. The other vans that we looked at those seats weren't removable. That's worth it's weight in gold! It's a bit pricey, but now that we have it, we love it. It drives smooth, it has plenty of cup holders and they are everywhere. The remote key is so handy. The doors suction shut, you can hear the quality. Volkwagon put a lot of thought behind all the details in this van.
Bought this 6 year old car with only 13,700 miles on it! It looks brand new. Drives like a dream, very comfy. It has all the bells and whistles, which I love. Leather, navigation, moonroof, Bluetooth. The third row seats fully fold into the floor. They even turn backwards for use at a tailgate or drive in. I have already taken 3 road trips in the month I have owned it!
We purchased the VW Routan a few months ago, since then we have driven to Disney and back (1500 miles) With 3 kids and luggage loaded we still had plenty of room. The two screen DVD is great and the kids love being able to play 2 different movies at the same time, Mom and Dad love it more! This is my third VW (00' golf, 07 Passat previously) so I am pretty much a VW guy. The first thing anyone should know is that the Routan is a Chrysler with VW branding and a few VW upgrades. I wish they had included a bit more of the VW touches, such as the paddle bars for cruise control, wipers, etc. I think the exterior is well done and has the look of a VW. The powerplant is adequate. The transmission seems to have to shift to a lower gear pulling up hills on the interstate at high speeds(75-80). We will see over time how this plays out. The fuel economy is pretty good for the engine and size of vehicle. 27mpg on the highway running 75-80. Overall, we are pleased with our purchase, we could not have gotten all of the bells and whistles on a Yukon or Suburban at the price level of the Routan. I would tell anyone to purchase the Routan, but know that it is a Chrysler at heart and not a VW.
