Before we had made the first payment on this vehicle, a crack developed in
the coolant expansion tank resulting in catastrophic engine overheating and failure. The engine was toast. We were presented with a $16,000 repair bill.
We were told that even if we had purchased the Carmax extended warranty, the problem we experienced would not have been covered. Lovely.
Forturnately, after a month of deliberations, Carmax bought the car back from us , and in doing so, made us whole. What a relief. Go Carmax. They will undoubtedly sell the car off for parts, and write the rest of it off on their insurance.
