To be fair, I am coming from a Volvo S60R, which was a great car with all the bells and whistles. The C30 is a lot of fun to drive. The throttle and steering is very responsive. The ride is however rather noisy. The tires have already been replaced due to obnoxious tire noise (I guess the previous owner did not have the tires rotated regularly). There is also a lot of noise during suspension travel that sounds a lot like strut bearing noise. The stereo is good and I appreciate the ipod interface and its ease of use. The styling on the R-design is aesthetically pleasing. I like the interior but I am unsure how to clean the synthetic material. The trunk is obviously much smaller than my S60, and I miss having AWD. The model I bought does not have a sunroof and I regret that. Overall I do enjoy the car. For the price it is a fun and stylish vehicle.
I'm a 25-year-old graphic designer who commutes about 45 minutes into Washington, DC from a Maryland suburb each day. I wanted a compact hatchback that was looked good, was unique and had enough power to satisfy my occasional lead foot. It also needed to be comfortable and have enough features to make the drive less of a chore. I loved the styling from the time it was unveiled, so when I needed my next car, I decided to check it out. I didn't test any other cars. It is smooth, solid, quiet, shifts effortlessly and returns fair gas mileage. I would say the gas mileage is my only complaint, but since I also often use public transportation, it's less of a problem. They're rare to find, but worth a look if you stumble across one.
Was just looking to get a good gas milage but unique car. This car has exceeded my expectations with true handling performance and unique body lines. Typical solid Volvo build quality and great features. The sound system is INCREDIBLE and even satellite radio that usually sounds underwhelming sounds great in this car. Plenty of power out of 5 cylinder turbo and still gets close to 30 mpg on highway. I intend to drive the wheels off this thing and I think it will handle it. Still under factory warranty and dealer has been excellent about questionable warranty items. I don't want you to buy one as it will become less unique!!!!!
