Reviews for 2009 Volvo C70
I am a Volvo Fan
I have owned several Volvos, the first in 1971, a sedan with very little power, then the 1975 Station Wagon, the darling of yuppies, that was a bit of a lemon. I next returned to the newly designed S80 of 1999 and another in 2001. Now I have a pre owned Volvo convertible and I love it. Part of my choice is based on the fact that the Volvo hard top convertible has some decent trunk room when the top is down, unique among the hard tops. Frankly, it was all about whether I could put beach chairs and an umbrella in the car. The Volvo is comfortable, powerful, beautifully appointed, and fun to drive. This is my first car with bluetooth and I really like that feature.
I have had several mechanical problems with this car. First of all, Car Max pushed an ext warranty on me even though at the time my car was still covered under factory warranty, which was hidden from me. The factory warranty is now up and I have a few more covered miles under the ext warranty, the door locking actuator is broken, the door comes open while driving, the door shims have had to be replaced, electronic keyless entry has had to be replaced, and the door handle itself. The ext warranty Car Max pushed me to buy hasn't covered anything and I'm paying to fix things out of pocket. Not only would I not recommend this car because of the electronic problems. I would NEVER recommend Car Max, and will never buy from them again!
I Love my C70
I am a big believer in listening to owner feedback. Based on the leading consumer magazine, I narrowed my search for a hardtop luxury convertible that seats 4, down to the BMW 3 series and the Volvo C70. With the Volvo some $6-8k less w similar equipment, it was a no brainer. I could not be happier with my choice of the Volvo. The Volvo C70 is a beauty, esp w/ the top down, and it has run flawlessly. There is plenty of room in the back seat for 2 adults, but it is much easier to get into the back w/ the top down. I highly recommend the Dynaudio radio upgrade, as it is amazing! The C70 seats are like sitting in a nice Lazy Boy recliner and I find the ride smooth (although other report it a bit stiff). The engine is powerful at higher RPMs, but there is a distinct turbo lag off the start with auto automatic transmission until you accelerate a bit. I commute 50+ miles a day and wanted a comfortable car for the drive - the C70 has proven a great choice. All convertibles flex some - and mine has developed a slight squeak in the right rear window after 10k miles. If you are looking for a comfortable, quality built convertible with great safety features (Volvo is the leader in safety), that is fun to drive - here it is... the Volvo C70.
