Transmission: Automatic Color:Gray Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (3.667 reviews) It's been good to me overall, despite what others warned me about previously. Everyone told me that it would be expensive to own a Volvo and that I'd experience problems. My experience has not borne that out at all. The only expenses I've had have been routine maintenance (brakes, a headlight, new belt at 120K, etc). The styling is super cute and expensive looking. I get asked all the time about my "expensive" Volvo. So, it's definitely been worth it for the professional image that I like to project. :-) The car is small which makes it easy to get around town in, and easy to park.

This five-passenger subcompact luxury sedan has a lot to offer both inside and out, including a powerful turbocharged inline-five engine, elegant Dalaro upholstery, and automatic climate control on its 2011 model. Through 2010, the S40 is also available with all-wheel drive for added confidence behind the wheel.

All-wheel drive was also available through the 2010 model year (and was standard on the T5 R-Design trim)—but for 2011, front-wheel drive was the exclusive offering.

Unless otherwise noted, the following trim features are specific to the 2011 model year.

Love my car

Runs well, drives well, a pleasure to ride in.

- Gaynor Watts, 2007 Volvo S40

Dissapointed

I liked the styling of the Volvo and some of the prestige that it carried. But from the time I drove it home it made a strange noise that was never able to be diagnosed. The car sat very low to the ground and became increasingly difficult in getting in and out of the automobile for a tall person. The seating was also a bit cramped. I found that the entire car would fog up within seconds of entering it after a work-out. This made driving home from the gym very difficult. On the positive side: The dash board was very clean, modern and simple. Trunk space is very large for a small car. Gas milage is pretty good.

- Sport Tech, 2006 Volvo S40
