The 5 cylinder takes some getting use to....after all it does not sound and lack the torque of a 4 cylinder but is not as powerful as a 6. The overall interior is simple. The arm rest could be a little longer or adjustable. The center "storage" is a small square behind the control center that is nice and slick......for the guy that design it.....for me its more a WTH*? The seats are comfi even on long drives The suspension is European...stiff which makes the handling in rides to the mountains fun however can feel a little ruff in the City. The trunk is amazingly big for the small / short wheel base of the car. The automatic / "tip tronic" shift is slow The automatic shifts into the higher gear to early in my opinion ...which might be economically correct but in the City could make the drive easier when you have to accelerate. The "tip tronic" (manual up and down shift) is there........................................................................... uuuuse it to make sure A full tank last's around 380 miles. However, you have to get out on the Interstate every so often to keep it up. Driving a lot of City will reduce it to around 320 miles. Overall its a 4 star and we got ours at a 5 star price
It is very reliable and my personal reason for loving Volvos in general is the gas pedal. It's not super sensitive, so I always feel in control. It rides smoothly and I really haven't has any major issues with it!
I bought my 2008 Volvo S40 2.4i a couple months ago, and I have be thuroughly pleased with it ever since. The things I find the most impressive about the car are things I wasn't even necesarily interested in when looking at various vehicles. The driver instrument panel and location of the controls on the center console are simplistic yet intuitive - there is a very perfect balance between design and functionality, and the Volvo engineers have reached near perfection with this one. The car looks fantastic, and there is no doubt in my mind that I am about as safe as I could be in a car while driving ... it also helps that it is appealing to the eyes as well. The only reservation I have about the car is that the acceleration could be a little peppier, but it still has a considerable amount of power for its class. It is also much cheaper than most competing luxury sedans like the BMW 500 series. All around it is just a great car to own and drive.
