I bought a used 06 R with 13k miles on it and a month later got crashed into. If you have an R and this happens, please take it to a dealer for repair...it is a complex machine not everyone can repair. Turning radii like a school bus. Good accel but no sports car for sure. Very good(Bembrow) brakes. No room in back seat and not much in trunk. You definitely feel the road in this car...rough road, rough ride. Goes thru front tires quickly (30k to 40k).Tires that come with the car (Pirelli) terrible in snow. After 6 months I finally got my car back like new and with new tires have enjoyed it much. However I had to get use to the clutch. Not as user-friendly as Japanese car stick shifts. Would I buy again?...probably not but God willing, I will enjoy it at least another 50k miles. Ride is so much more solid than most of its competitors...call it "road-worthy".
The exterior styling of the car is beautiful and the interior screams "class". I went from a Camry, which I dearly loved, to the S60 and now that I've had it for a couple months, I miss the room the Camry had. The S60 is quite small, especially the back seat. There's not much leg room at all. This doesn't really pose a big problem though because it's usually just me in the car anyway. Other than that, and the fact that I still can't get used to the steering wheel (I can't figure out how to place my hands; it's totally different from the Camry) I love the car! It's got excellent get up and go from the turbo! It handles very well and I love the radio controls on the steering wheel. My husband, who is nearly 6 ft, thinks it's super comfortable, so maybe the "quite small" thing is all in my head! So for a great looking car inside and out that handles like a dream, you can't beat it. Especially at the price we got ours for.
Although on the smaller side, the car has plenty of room to seat 4 adults comfortably. We have a newborn and the car seat's size requires the passenger seat to be moved up but still allows for plenty of leg room for the passenger. The car is stylish and removed from the boxier look of previous Volvo models. The interior is what makes the car over the top. Seats are comfortable leather and easily adjustable. Plenty of headroom and I am over 6ft tall. The sound system is great and does not need an aftermarket upgrade. The dash display is a crisp gray background with digital white letters/numerals. It handles well and has plenty of get up and go. I average over 24 mpg with most of my driving in town.
