A spacious and super-comfortable minivan

If you're on the lookout for the ultimate family car, there are few types of vehicles better suited to the task than the humble minivan. For when you need even more space and practicality than an SUV or full-size sedan, the minivan is tailor-made for transporting you, the kids, and all the associated luggage with space to spare. The third-generation Honda Odyssey was introduced in 2018, making 2019 the second year of the current generation. And with three-row seating, a stout V6 engine, and no shortage of space and available features, the 2019 Honda Odyssey is the minivan for all seasons that will help make even the most ambitious family journeys feel like a walk in the park.

5 reasons to buy the 2019 Honda Odyssey

1. All that passenger space

2019 Honda Odyssey: Front Seats | CarMax

Being a three-row minivan, the 2019 Honda Odyssey's main selling point is always going to be its interior space and roominess. And it certainly doesn't disappoint in that regard. That whopping 163 cubic feet of passenger volume means you can carry kids and adults alike across the three-rows. Couple that to equally impressive legroom—40.9 inches for the front- and second-row seats and 38.1 inches for the rear seats—and even the taller passengers will have space to stretch out in the vast Odyssey.

2. Cargo space for days

2019 Honda Odyssey: Third Row | CarMax

It isn't just passengers that have plenty of room in the 2019 Honda Odyssey—the 32 cubic feet of cargo volume is good enough for most everyday purposes, but with 60/40-split-folding third-row seats, this can be expanded up to 89.2 cubic feet. And if that's still not enough, the second-row seats can be manually removed altogether, taking the total cargo capacity up to 144.9 cubic feet. Whether it's a lot of people or a lot of goods to transport—or even both at once—the 2019 Honda Odyssey can take it all.

3. Easy to operate

The last thing you need when moving a group of people, be they family or all adults, is the car itself making things more difficult for you. The 2019 Honda Odyssey has that covered. Sliding rear doors make getting in and out an absolute breeze, and once everyone is seated inside, the dashboard interface is comprised only of physical buttons—no touchscreens to get your head around. Each row of seats has its own cupholders and extra convenience features such as automatic climate control (all models) and powered sliding doors (EX trim upwards). That makes operating the 2019 Honda Odyssey to a truly low-stress affair.

4. A joy to drive

2019 Honda Odyssey: Engine | CarMax

Safe to say that if you're looking for a large family car, driving pleasure might not be too high on the priorities list. But here's the good news: no matter how good the 2019 Honda Odyssey is at being a large family car, it's still surprisingly fun to drive. That 3.5L V6 engine produces smooth and satisfying acceleration even when fully loaded with passengers and cargo, and the steering is nice and fast, making twisty city driving an adventure. Additionally, paddle shifters for the automatic transmission are included as standard, even on the base model.

5. A long feature list

The 2019 Honda Odyssey is certainly one of those vehicles where you get plenty of standard features. Right from the base LX model, you get a rearview camera, powered front seats, Bluetooth, and two USB ports. And from the EX trim upwards the feature list really gets extensive. An eight-inch touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, and the aforementioned powered sliding doors isn't even a complete list of the EX's standard features.
