  Scared of potential emissions problems and diesel Carbon buildup although my car has none so far.

  Trunk and back seats on the small side although adequate.

Pros

  This is not your mamma's diesel. It is quiet, fast and handles like it is on rails. You won't believe it unless you drive one, and then they will have to pry you out of it.

• Cabin Noise

  Low road and wind noise, as is to be expected from a BMW. There is a musical roar when the second turbo-charger kicks in, sweet music to the ears.

• Fuel Economy

  I get 38.5 mpg on the highway. in town the mileage plummets to 30.8 mpg. Nothing to complain about, but if it bothers you, Telsa, the new BMW electric, Nissan electric, Prius and Chevy volt are some of your options. Do not buy a BMW and then complain about gas mileage, no, no, no ! Out of League.

  Addition of Urea (used to clean the exhaust) can be a pain, but it is only once every 15,000 miles and a small cost to pay for not having to clean black soot from the bumper and visually polute the atmosphere.

• Cost to Maintain

  Cost is BMW high, but then again one does not buy a BMW is one is concerned about routine maintenance costs. The dealers will pluck your eyes out of their sockets, but if you are nice to a mechanic, he/she may introduce you to their home garage setup for a fraction of the cost.

  I'm getting 28 mpg around town, 34-36 highway, which is pretty darned awesome.

  Front seat occupants are fine. Back seat riders are at times cramped for space.

  It's like driving a jet. And I would know. I'm a flight attendant!! Haha!

  So secure in the way this car handles quick stops if necessary. It is such a pleasure to drive. And the LUXURY, Oh my!!!

• Dashboard

  Completely elegant to look at. I have the NAV system so that's a real bonus. Need to learn how to operate it!!
