You wouldn’t think a car with 570HP would have such a smooth and quiet ride, but the X5 is tremendous in this regard. No matter what driving mode you’re in, the ride is very smooth, quiet and luxurious.
Fuel Economy
Despite the turbocharged V8 engine, the fuel economy on the X5 M50i is outstanding. On any freeway trip when we’re in eco-pro driving mode we get around 27mpg since the engine is technically a hybrid engine.
Power
You can’t not talk about the power of the M50i. No matter the driving mode, the acceleration and torque are no joke exciting!
Cons
Visibility
I don’t know if I’ve just set my seat weird, but this is the only car where it seems like I have major blindspots on both sides and it’s very hard to head check as you’re merging lanes.
Cost to Maintain
As for just about any luxury car, the cost to maintain if something breaks or needs to be replaced is rather expensive. At 40k miles we needed new spark plugs which were over $1,000. We also needed 2 tires replaced which were $900.
