Fuel Economy
this 4Runner is stock and I took it fishing today driving over 700 miles and it averaged almost 20mpg. these were highway miles and had an elevation gain of over 5000 feet and weather was about 34 F for most of the trip. I know that when I lift my car and put larger tires the milage will drop but until then it is a joy to drive.
Cabin Noise
this car with stock suspension and tires is very quiet and handles the road very easily. I drove over 800 miles today fishing and I was not worn out from the drive.
Reliability
400k miles is a common milestone for these. excited I have a vehicle for life (barring unforeseen events of course)
Cost to Maintain
Parts are so readily available and the engine is easy to get to when work is needed.
Cargo Space
ample room for lots of goodies, able to use the back seats AND have a bunch of things in the back
Fuel Economy
It’s a 5 speed automatic with a beefy V6, it’s not winning any awards for fuel economy lol
Technology and Entertainment
Apple Car Play and Android Auto are great, but the technology compared to others in its class, it’s “lacking” but I will say, to me that means less to break.
Cabin Noise
It’s not meant to be a road cruiser, so this wasn’t a priority for me anyway.
Cargo Space
Lots of interior room, as well as in the rear cargo area
Ride and Handling
4WD is great in the snow
Styling
Looks great from the exterior

Styling
it’s sporty and enjoyable to drive.
Value
expect to drive it for 8-10 years
Reliability
appreciate that features are limited. its what i need with no more extra bells and whistles to break.
Cabin Noise
does seem a little louder than others
Cost to Maintain
there are many 4Runners out there that means plenty of parts are available. but it is a Toyota and something built to last a long time will cost more to maintain.
Fuel Economy
I have consistently gotten 20 mpg towing a small trailer. Much better than I expected.
Power
6-cylinder easily pulls a small trailer and comes factory equipped with both types of trailer connectors.
Ride and Handling
Handling is smooth and steady, seats are comfortable for longer trips.
Cabin Noise
My RAV4 was pretty noisy on the road but my replacement 4Runner is much quieter.
Reliability
Totally reliable platform. Toyota engineered this vehicle to last for many years/miles.
Weather Versatility
Perfect in any weather, Four Wheel drive is excellent in snow. Built like a tank and goes through most anything
Value
Value doesn't mean it's cheap. The 4Runner costs more than many competitors, but it pays you back in reliability and longevity.
Fuel Economy
Doesn't get great mileage but I knew that. Still not bad for a true body on frame heavy duty SUV, not a glorified station wagon on a car chassis.
Reliability
Toyota has a reputation for long lasting vehicles as long as you take care of them.
Interior Space
plenty of space for the dogs and storage
Ride and Handling
Fuel Economy
not the best with fuel economy but 4runners are known for this.
Ride and Handling
I like the height and clearance of the car.
Styling
Fuel Economy
Value
It was a fair price, but it was expensive.
Reliability
Proven, durable powertrain. None of the benefits of more modern designs, but none of the drawbacks. Plenty of space for maintenance and repair.
Cargo Space
Spacious. Can sit upright in the cargo hold without my head touching the ceiling in two-row models without sliding tray. Seat bottoms fold forward in two-row models which takes up the second-row footwell.
Technology and Entertainment
A blend of new and old without being annoying with the new. Cellular connection can be turned off, large, simple controls, CarPlay. LDA can be disabled with a button press and AEB sensitivity adjusted.
Ride and Handling
My SO doesn't like it's soft suspension, body roll and nosedive when braking much. Cruising at speed is comfortable, even compared to crossovers. Much easier to reach limits of it's 265 tires when cornering than a crossover however. (it's a truck.)
Fuel Economy
It's fine when put up against comparable vehicles. If not choosing it for it's off-road capability, durability or older design, you could do a lot better for your dollar going for say, a Highlander.
Weather Versatility
Excellent off-road capability but part-time 4WD will be much less useful on pavement in inclement weather. Full-time 4WD (see: 4Runner Limited, GX)/Auto 4WD/AWD will generally be superior in the wet until the road is covered with say, snow.
