Best I've had 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime Plug-In

Pros

  • Fuel Economy

Most of the time I use no gasoline at all. 40 mile electric range is more than enough for running around town every day.

  • Power

The combo of a hybrid power plant and all wheel drive gives it plenty of power. It really is surprising.

  • Seat Comfort

I've had heated seats before and they are great but these seats are also cooled and that is a totally new and wonderful experience.

A great combination of EV and Hybrid 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime Plug-In

    Pros

    • Fuel Economy

I bought this car in July, then ran it off one (10-gallon) tank of gas till September. Plugging in the car is easy, and it goes to full charge overnight using a standard 110-V outlet. I plug it in about every three or four nights, but I don't stress about it. When in Automatic mode, it runs as an EV in standard city driving, with the engine kicking in when I jump on the highway or climb a steep hill. Driving between cities, it has great range, and I never worry about finding a place to charge.

    • Ride and Handling

The ride is quiet is comfortable, and when needed it's zippy and responsive.

    • Technology and Entertainment

This car takes "automatic" to new levels. I never touch the headlight controls. They come on when needed, and dim when required. Even the windshield wipers come on when it starts raining. The sound system is wonderful, and connects to my iPhone flawlessly.

    Cons

    • Cargo Space

It may sound odd, but I actually miss having the full-size spare tire on the back of the car. It's not quite as convenient for loading the car, but the large space underneath was really useful. On my 2012 RAV-4, I used to keep a full toolbox under there.

    mr 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime Plug-In

    Pros

    • Fuel Economy

Most of my driving is local and well within the 50 mile EV range. At 18.4 cents per kilowatt hour, the cost to drive around town is much cheaper than the cost of gas. It charges on a 110 volt outlet but takes 12 hours to charge from empty to full; not a problem for us; it is supposed to charge in 2 1/2 hours on a 220 line.

    • Power

Power is more than adequate for driving locally and on the Blue Ridge and other mountains. Not sports care power or handling but it never lags.

    • Seat Comfort

Seats are much more comfortable than my 2017 Rav4. The seat cooler is helpful in reducing the discomfort from sciatica.

    Cons

    • Cabin Noise

Cabin noise is fine in EV mode. When the internal combustion engine is used, it can be noisy under load.

    • Technology and Entertainment

I like nearly everything about the technology - auto headlights, auto windshield wipers, auto parking brake. The paddle shifters are wasted on me.

    • Seat Comfort

We are short. My wife likes the seat back to be straight. The head rest pushes too far forward to be comfortable and to allow sun shield to be moved to the side window. I turned them around and added an aftermarket neck pillow and that provided an adequate work-around to the problem.
