In addition to the MaxCare exclusion examples listed, MaxCare Plus does not cover the following:

Damage caused by a vehicle collision or other accident, weather hazards (e.g. hail), or off-road use

Tire repair or replacement due to lack of maintenance or normal wear and tear

Paint repairs on vehicle body

The repair of dents larger than 4 inches long or in diameter

Repairs to plastic or fiberglass panels (e.g., plastic bumper or fender)

Unlike many other service plans that are available today, MaxCare offers named exclusion coverage as opposed to named component coverage. What this means is that there is a specific list of non-covered components and losses. Certain causes of loss such as corrosion and abuse are also excluded. If the item in question is not on the exclusion list, it is covered. We believe that this is the most simple and transparent way to present this information to our Customers. If the item in question is not on the exclusion list, it is covered.

Every car we sell automatically comes with a CarMax 30-day limited warranty. In CT, MN, and RI, it's 60 days/3,000 miles (whichever's first), and in MA, NJ, and NY it's 90 days/4,000 miles (whichever's first). This means your vehicle's major systems, plus hundreds of parts inside and out are covered, including labor. See store for details. MaxCare extended service plans are an optional service you can choose to purchase when you purchase your car. These optional plans can be tailored to your monthly budget and provide coverage of your vehicle's major systems and hundreds of parts, inside and out, for several years.

No, MaxCare and MaxCare Plus are entirely optional extended service plans, but many CarMax customers choose it for the peace of mind it brings to long-term used car ownership.

Yes! You can take your vehicle to any licensed service facility in the US or Canada that offers a 6-month/6,000-mile warranty on parts and labor. If you have covered repairs completed at a CarMax service center or a RepairPal Certified shop, your deductible will be reduced by $50 (state limitations may apply).

If you sell your car, you may either transfer your MaxCare plan to the new owner or cancel your MaxCare plan. If you transfer your MaxCare plan, a transfer fee may apply. If you cancel your MaxCare plan, any refund owed will be calculated based on a pro-rata term and/or mileage, and cancellations may be subject to a cancellation fee.

If your car needs repairs that are covered by your MaxCare plan, you pay your chosen deductible to the repair facility that will be repairing your car. Deductibles are only paid once per visit to the repair facility (regardless of how many repairs are made during that one visit). MaxCare pays the repair facility directly for the covered repairs. If you have covered repairs completed at a CarMax service center or a RepairPal Certified shop, your deductible will be reduced by $50 (state limitations may apply).

No. MaxCare is only available at the time you purchase your CarMax vehicle.

MaxCare Plus combines the protection of existing MaxCare coverage with additional protection for a vehicle's tires and wheels. It also adds paintless dent repair coverage for small dents and dings.

No, tire, wheel, and dent protection is only offered with a MaxCare Plus plan.

You may cancel your MaxCare or MaxCare Plus plan at any time. The amount of your refund is calculated based on a pro-rata term and/or mileage and may be subject to a cancellation fee. If you financed your car through one of CarMax's finance sources, any refund amount will be credited to your finance account.

1. MaxCare is administered by third-party administrators. CarMax is not a party to the MaxCare or MaxCare Plus contract.

2. MaxCare Plus is currently not available in CA, SC, OR and the Dulles store

3. Five year term only available for cars with less than 60,000 odometer miles at time of purchase; plan also subject to mileage cap.

4. Deductibles, limitations and exclusions apply. Consult the MaxCare or MaxCare Plus contract for a full list of exclusions; ask an associate for details.

5. Emergency roadside assistance does not include fuel costs. For MaxCare, tire costs are also not included.

6. Substitute transportation reimbursement (10 days up to $50/day) is currently not available in CA, SC, OR, and the Dulles store. Rental reimbursement in these states and stores is limited to $40/day for 7 days. See contract for full details.
