Paired with an electric motor and hybrid battery pack, the Sportage Hybrid's six-speed automatic transmission pumps out 227 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, which is enough power to go from zero to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds (according to the manufacturer, when new). Using a home charger, the 44.2 kW battery can reach a full charge in approximately two hours, which means you can drive in all-electric mode and skip the gas station while you're running errands around town. Altogether, the two-wheel-drive Sportage Hybrid clocks in an impressive EPA-estimated 43 mpg combined (38 mpg on four-wheel-drive models).
