I have to say this is my 5th Audi and 1st Allroad. If you want a car that does what you want it to do when you want it to do it, this is the car. The 2.7 liter Turbo coupled with the 6 speed manual transmission provides exceleration from 2 miles an hour to whatever you choose at the top end. If you have to stay at low speeds on village roads (where I live there are several 15 mile an hour roads that I use daily.) 2nd gear speaks with you softly and with respect. No almost stalling or jerky transmission. I live in a mountainous area and this car will climb effortlessly in 5th or 6th gear while keeping at the designated speed limit (75 miles an hour.) The handling is tight and responsive. The negatives are the usual European negatives, non functional cup holders and no reasonable small item storage on the driver or front passanger side. The Europeans don't eat in their cars or worry about small item storage, they drive! Forget about cup holders and map or sunglass storage. This car is made to drive and even over relatively long distances (300 to 500 miles) it is comfortable in both the front and back seats. I also take this car fly fishing in the mountains and to fine dining in the city. It dresses up or down for whatever the occasion. I don't buy new cars and I had to look pretty extensively to find this 6 speed manual transmission. I 'm glad I took the time to find exactly what I was after. Driving should be a pleasure not a commonplace or drugery! Do yourself a favor and seek out the 2.7 liter with the 6 speed manual transmission. Those airline tickets won't look so attractive after you've driven this car. Forget about flying and drive something that will drive you.
I have owned Mercedes and BMWs. This is one notch higher functionally and aesthetically.
I gave up a Nissan Pathfinder which was very reliable, but just an unweildy vehicle. It was just too big, and was a chore to park. This Audi Allroad has gut wretching acceleration and an exceptionally smooth ride. Adjustable suspension up to 8.2 inches coupled with fulltime 4WD will probably ensure that I will be able to get through most east coast snow storms. This baby hugs the road, and does not have what I would call "boat float" when encountering bumps. The suspension absorbs road imperfections enough to where they're hardly noticeable. Luxurious interior with satellite radio, 5Disc CD changer, and sound environment controls, and just about every imaginable creature comfort is definately a plus. At night the interior dials are back-lit with red lighting. As a result, I have the impression of sitting in a Spaceship! What an eyecatcher! The coolness factor is through the roof! Apart from the impending high-cost maintenace, I love this car!
