It averages between 32-38 mpg, is comfortable, and for those who can remember Disney World in the early days, it equates to an "E" Ticket ride! People are impressed when they get in for the first time, and unfortunately Lexus has replaced it with the ES and CT Hybrids. They stand behind their product quite well, so you have no worries with this car.

Now I Get It!

After owning my first luxury car for a little over a month, I now understand what all the fuss is about. I feel like I have been accepted into the secret society of luxury car owners. Had I known all the work my car was going to do for me and all the thinking it was going to do for me, I would have gone "luxury" sooner. I love every feature in this car and hardly know where to begin. I guess the fact that I never have to remove my key fob from my purse is the nicest feature. My car recognizes that I have it on me and just my touch is enough to open the doors, the trunk, start the car, etc. I also really love the heads up driving feature. My eyes never have to leave the road. The windshield wipers have sensors that tell them when to come on and how fast to go. The voice activated controls are also wonderful. And the fact that I can program my garage door opener and my community gate opener into the controls on my rear view mirror is fantastic. The back up camera is also wonderful along with the sensors that tell me when I am getting too close to something. I was seriously thinking about a Mercedes when I bought this car but I have owned Toyota's for quite a long time and have never had any trouble with them. So when I saw this Lexus was a hybrid, I was sold. I get the same gas mileage I was getting with my Corolla (I do almost all highway driving) but with much more room, comfort, and all the bells and whistles. Now that I have tasted luxury, I will never go back!

Luxury, Value & Fuel Economy

After about a month of driving I am getting 37 mpg. The display will normally calculate 39 or 40 but dividing mileage and gallons pumped into the tank equates to 37. The recommended fuel is 87 so I save over having to get 93 like most luxury cars. The HS has all the options of most Lexus cars except the heads up display. I love all the automation and it simply works. I haven't driven enough to start paying for maintenance or repairs so not sure on what it will cost to maintain it. In eco mode it is a bit sluggish when you gun it; there must be a limiter because in power mode it has plenty of power to get onto the interstate from stop to 65. I have plenty of leg room and I'm 6'1". There is about the same head room I had with my Acura TL. With the joystick and nav there is less storage accessible from the driver side but it's manageable.
