It's fun, fast, and affordable

I drive this car every day about 60 miles per day and I've never run out of range. I used to spend $300/month on gas but now I have no gas costs. My electric bill has only increased about $20/month even with a full charge daily. With more charging stations in the city I've been able to extend my range to 100+ miles by only spending about 5 -10 minutes at a level 3 quick charger. My daily commute to work is 50 miles round trip which includes about 30 miles on the freeway. During my lunch break I drive 10 miles round trip to a fitness center to workout. One of the most fun things about this car is the instant torque. I can zip around almost anybody on surface streets and comfortably cruise around 70mph on the freeway.

Pros

  • Fuel Economy: Never even think about gas, just plug in when I get home and it's ready to go the next morning
  • Braking: I rarely press on brakes because the regenerative braking does all the work for me.
  • Cost to Maintain: Never needs an oil change, just one annual inspection which is covered by the warranty

Cons

  • Styling: It's does not have a luxurious interior equal to cars at the same price point.
  • Ride and Handling: The car is so light so on windy days you really feel it.
  • Weather Versatility: Really cold days (below 40) the range drops about 10%.

Everything I could want in an EV

The cost of ownership is so low, I will never go back to regular gas-fueled vehicles again if it can be helped. My Miev not only gets me back and forth on my daily commute to work with mileage to spare, but it is so quiet to drive and when I push the accelerator pedal down, it gives a satisfying response for the size engine it has. In stop-n-go traffic, it gets even better mileage per charge than stated!

Pros

  • Cabin Noise:
  • Reliability:
  • Cost to Maintain:

Lowest Price electric car you can buy

No need to ever go to a gas station again. If you drive less than 60 miles per trip, you can just charge it in your garage. Since most people commute about 20 miles, this makes sense for just about everyone. Its a small car and most families have multiple vehicles, so you can always use your gas car for trips. or just rent something with all the money you save. These vehicles are generally $7-8K used, so you can have a car payment of $100 - 150/month. Its about $2-3K less than a Nissan Leaf. You'll need to spend about another $300-400 for a Level 2 charger (240V) because it does take a long time to charge with the included 110V charger (like 22 hours instead of 6).

Pros

  • Fuel Economy: 126 MPGe.
  • Technology and Entertainment: Its electric.
  • Interior Space: Lots of headroom for tall people, more like an SUV than a sub-compact

Cons

  • Cabin Noise: like most small cars, its louder on the freeway
