I love my Car!!!

2013 Nissan Maxima Mrs. Jacobs - Florence, SC 01/11/2016

I love the way the Maxima has so much power! The interior is all black leather, with a sunroof, it's push to start. I love everything about this car!

Solid Sports Sedan - better than my Infiniti G37

2013 Nissan Maxima Mike Berger - Winter Springs, FL 11/14/2016

Very enjoyable ride. Lots to love. I like it better than the 2013 Infiniti G37 that I leased new, though there are pros and cons to each. My only reservations with the Maxima are that the CVT transmission is kind of plodding until the accelerator is pretty far down, and the tires for the 19-inch wheels on the Sport Package are quick to lose tread and expensive to replace. Overall I would recommend enthusiastically to anyone who wants something sporty in a sedan without being completely over the top with engine power, and doesn't mind a little road noise a stiff drive that comes with a sportier vehicle.

2013 Nissan Maxima Overview

Released under the seventh generation of Nissan Maximas, the 2013 Nissan Maxima was a top-selling midsize vehicle in its class. Interestingly enough, the Nissan Maxima wasn't always a midsize car, nor is it today. Up until 1988, it was produced as a compact car, and ever since its 2015 release, it's been redesigned as a full-size sedan. Regardless, the 2013 Nissan Maxima was a vehicle popular for its quality interior and competitive pricing, especially when compared to luxury sedans.

2013 Nissan Maxima History

While the 2013 Nissan Maxima didn't see any major upgrades or add-ons in contrast to the 2012 release, there were some notable changes with this particular model year. The main change was in its trim options and packages. Specifically, the upgraded Bose sound system that was available in previous model years was no longer included standard on the SV trim model, much to many drivers' dismay. Additional changes worth noting included:

  • Improved construction material quality and durability
  • IBetter driving dynamics
  • ILighter-weight construction
  • IClimate-controlled seating in some trims
  • INew exterior paint color option (pearl white)

How It Drives

First driving impressions of the 2013 Nissan Maxima are relatively impressive, especially when it comes to the vehicle's steering and handling. Compared to similarly sized vehicles, the Maxima boasts surprisingly smooth and precise handling, even on rougher terrain and around sharper curves and turns. What surprises drivers most about the 2013 Nissan Maxima driving experience, however, may be its quick acceleration. The Maxima is able to reach 60 mph from a complete standstill in just over 6.2 seconds, which actually puts it right in line with many luxury sedans on the market. A quality suspension also makes for a smooth ride, especially for a vehicle of its size and price.

Used 2013 Nissan MaximaValue

Nissan in general is known for its budget-friendly vehicles, and the 2013 Nissan Maxima is no exception. With an MSRP starting at around $15,000, this vehicle was one of the cheapest in its class when it debuted in 2013. Today, it is possible to find used models for around $10,000 to $12,000, still providing an excellent value for those in need of a reliable midsized vehicle. Some of the Maxima's main competitors include the Toyota Avalon, the Chevrolet Impala, and the Kia Cadenza. Of its major competitors, the Maxima remains the most budget-friendly and provides quite the bang for its buck, especially when you consider its powertrain, acceleration, and fuel economy are right in line with luxury sedan competitors.

Design & Performance

The 2013 Nissan Maxima has a relatively modest design that isn't likely to catch a lot of attention. Still, some changes in its exterior styling and performance have made the 2013 release one of the best in recent years, particularly from a workmanship standpoint. Some specific features worth noting here include:

  • Lower profile for great fuel economy
  • Upgraded suspension (with sport package)
  • Continuously variable automatic transmission

All in all, if you're looking for a midsize sedan that looks unassuming but actually packs a surprising punch under the hood, then the 2013 Nissan Maxima could be the right choice for you.

Powertrain & Engine

Speaking of under-the-hood, the 2013 Nissan Maxima has a quite powerful 3.5-liter, V6 engine that comes standard in every trim level (even the base trim) of this vehicle. This engine puts out 290 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque, which is rather impressive for a car in its class. The continuous variable transmission (CVT) also helps power flow to the car's front wheels, making for faster acceleration that drivers will appreciate.

In terms of fuel economy, the 2013 Nissan Maxima performs pretty well compared to similarly priced competitors. Specifically, the Maxima earned 19 mpg in the city and an average of 26 mpg on the highway. This makes for an overall average of 22 mpg combined. While this may not seem very efficient today, it was on par with most vehicles of its size when it was released in 2013.

Body Style & Interior Comfort

Looking at the inside of the 2013 Nissan Maxima alone, you might mistake this for a luxury vehicle. In addition to the sleek design of the Maxima's interior, there are numerous features and options that are quite impressive. Some of these include:

  • An intuitive and easy-to-use iPod interface
  • Optional rear bucket seats for added comfort
  • 14.2 cubic feet of trunk storage space
  • Great interior detailing with leather accents

It is worth noting that, without the optional rear bucket seats, trunk storage space can be expanded by folding seats down. Furthermore, there is enough rear seating space for three average-sized adults, though it may not be the most comfortable for longer car rides because of the limited leg room. Still, for a midsized vehicle, the interior design and comfort of the 2013 Nissan Maxima is rather impressive and comparable to pricier cars.
