As I approached retirement I faced many decisions, one of which was what type of vehicle I should purchase to take me into and through retirement. I already own several Toyotas; a Venza my wife drives, a Corrola my daughter drives, and my "buddy" a 12 year old Tundra so the choice of which make of vehicle was a no brainer, Toyota. However, which model to chose was, I thought, would be a difficult choice. After a little research, I settled on the 4Runner and man was I glad. The 4Runner suites me perfectly. It's appearance (style) and size is decidedly masculine without resembling a tank. The enterior is spacious and comfortable even for me; 6'6" 270 lbs. The features are luxurious without being too "clever". Performance, power, and handling are all more than adequate for me. For the second time in my life I made the perfect choice, my wife being the first.
I love my new 4Runner! I am a previous 4 door Jeep Wrangler owner. I thought I would miss my Jeep but I don't miss it at all. The ride in the 4Runner is much smoother and it is definately roomier. Both the Jeep & 4Runner are 6 cylinders but the 4Runner has alot more pick up. I love the sunroof, and that the rear window goes down as well. It lets alot of air in so I can enjoy those sunny days. Rear back up camera is pretty cool too. The gas mileage is about the same. The only thing that could be better is the navigation display screen. It is very hard to see during the day time.
Thoroughly pleased with this vehicle. It's a true SUV not a minivan makeover. The vehicles suspension and breaks were built to support the weight of the vehicle. Although it overall ride hight is a little taller than whet we experienced in other similar SUV's and crossovers it does not feel topheavy at all. It corners nicely and am impressed with cornering. The vehicles ride is much smoother than expected, very comfortable. Front driver and passenger seats are nicely bolstered and provide adequet support. Mid row is adjustible which is very nice. Mid and Third row completely lays flat when not in use providing excellent storage. Third row seating had decent legroom but passenger hight must be considered as headroom in the thirdrow is low. I guess my only gripe is we wished leather seats were an option with the SR5. Overall very pleased with the vehicle, vehicle feels solid and quality of components should last for years to come. Would defenitly purchase one again.
