I bought a 2008 VW Passat Used, with a little over 22k on it. I have only own this vehicle for 3months but I have to say, It has stolen my heart. Prior to going to the dealership, I had my eyes set on a 2009 Honda Accord. Mainly because of Honda's reputation for making durable cars. I walked in with intentions of leaving with a Accord, Left in a Passat. In the end, I was happy with my decision.
I test drove the passat first (Honda never had a chance). The first thing I noticed was how comfortable it was. ( I bought the Komfort edition with Leather seats ). Big nice sunroof, heated leather seats, very clean, and very simple controls; which is a good thing because I am a "Get in and Drive Kinda Guy". While driving, the interior was really quite, the ride was very smooth, and let me tell you...This thing can move!!! You can definately feel the turbo, this car was made for passing. Although it was fun to drive. At that time, I still thought I would leave with a accord...but then I test drove the accord.
Again, the first thing I noticed was how uncomfortable the accord was compared to the Passat, and I also noticed how loud you can hear the engine even with the window's up. Regardless of the fact, I expected the drive to be faster. Sadly, that wasnt the case... Even though the Accord had 268 HP compared to the Passat's 200hp +turbo, The Passat clearly accelerated faster.
Unless your in europe driving on the autobahn, I wouldnt recommend getting the extra horsepower, because I sure didnt notice the extra power, espcially with gas prices these days.
After driving both cars, the only thing that stood out with the accord was how spacious the interior was compared to the Passat...Besides that, the accord seems lacking.
This car is awesome. Everything from its classy look to its gas mileage. I get outstanding gas mileage for a car with turbo ( drove from ATL to Orlando with 1tank ). I love everything about this car and have no regret. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a Sedan.

We love our Passat Wagon! We were debating between a mini van and this car, and we're so happy we chose the wagon. The car is comfortable and makes it easy to put children/carseats in or out. My husband calls it my little "race car" because the car performs well and has lots of pick-up. My son likes the cupholders in the backseat. Overall, we are pleased with our purchase.

I love my Passat. I have even installed a flower vase which I think all VWs should come with....not just the bugs. The turbo engine is really there when I need it. The heated seats are a special treat. The sun roof is super, & the stereo is excellent. The car handles really well. The tiptronic transmission is great but the gas mileage is better if I stick with the automatic. Gas mileage could be better especially because the car requires super gas.
It's a great car.
