How do I pay for my purchase?
You can apply for financing with CarMax, your own bank or credit union, or pay cash. For in store transactions (including down payments), we accept:
Cash
PIN-based debit cards
Wire transfers
Personal checks with verified funds that reflect your correct name and address, made out to CarMax.
No fees apply to any of these payment methods, and credit cards can't be used to buy a car at CarMax, including for down payments. Depending on your bank, online ACH payment through a secure portal may also be an option using your online banking credentials. Note that some banks require advance notice for large debit transactions.
