2025 Audi RS3 review

The Audi RS 3 is a compact sport sedan with supercar-like acceleration from its turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine. Output is an impressive 401 horsepower, and power is routed to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. At the test track, the RS 3 needed less than 4 seconds to zip from zero to 60 mph. Equally impressive is its all-weather grip and everyday usability. The ride is firm but comfortable, and there’s room enough for two adults in the second row. One downside: The interior doesn't feel like an upgrade from that of the run-of-the-mill A3 it’s based on.

Second generation Audi RS3

Audi certainly did its homework when it came to improving the already entertaining first-gen RS 3 sedan. Arriving for the 2022 model year, the second-generation RS 3 delivered more horsepower, additional grip, an even higher level of comfort, and an array of driver-assist features. And there’s something to be said for the fact the RS 3 even exists in a market increasingly focused on large utility vehicles. After a hiatus for the 2021 model year, it came roaring back to an automotive landscape increasingly filled with SUVs. The dimensions of the RS 3 make it perfect for slipping through traffic and squeezing into tight parking spots. Rear headroom and legroom are adult-friendly, though the trunk is definitely on the small side at only 8.3 cubic feet. Another demerit is the interior. Everything is properly designed, and trim quality isn’t an issue. Yet other than more heavily bolstered front sport seats, the overall atmosphere is nearly identical to what you’ll find in a vastly less expensive A3 sedan.

First generation Audi RS3

The RS 3 arrived in the U.S. market beginning with the 2017 model year. Thanks to its small size and potent drivetrain, this compact luxury sport sedan quickly established itself as a potent force in the dwindling sport compact car market. Thankfully, Audi missed the memo about everyone craving an XL-sized SUV. With its Quattro® all-wheel-drive system, the RS 3 can be enjoyed even if Mother Nature is in a cranky mood. Standard features included leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, Audi’s MMI® infotainment system, an adaptive suspension, a 10-speaker stereo system, satellite radio, and wired smartphone connectivity. The best part of the RS 3 is what it feels like from behind the wheel. Extremely fast and equally refined, this is the type of sedan that will inspire someone to take the long scenic way home.
