2016 Ford C-Max energi review

1. Strong powertrain 

When talking about hybrids, performance is usually in the back of people’s minds and not among the top priorities. However, the 2016 Ford C-Max Energi comes with a potent powertrain that’s certainly worth mentioning. It’s powered by a combination of a 2.0L four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that gets its energy from a 7.6-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. They are paired with a continuously variable transmission and send their output to the front wheels. This combination generates a total of 188 hp, providing decent acceleration for a vehicle with a minivan-like design. 

2. Good electric range and gas mileage 

Fuel economy and electric range, on the other hand, are some of the deciding factors as far as plug-in hybrids are concerned. This is another area where the 2016 Ford C-Max Energi excels, with an EPA-estimated 38 mpg combined using both power sources, and an EPA-estimated 19-mile range when running on electric power only.

With this estimated range, you can easily run all your errands around town during the day without having to switch to gasoline-powered mode. Recharging is quick, taking about 2.5 hours to get a full charge using a 240-volt socket. 

3. Refined and comfortable interior 

As far as the interior is concerned, the 2016 Ford C-Max comes with a cabin that’s spacious and refined, creating a pleasant and comfortable environment for passengers. Leather upholstery is standard, along with a power-adjustable driver’s seat and heated front seats. Front passengers get 41 inches of headroom and 43.1 inches of legroom, with rear passengers getting 39.4 inches and 36.5 inches of headroom and legroom, respectively. 

4. Plenty of standard features 

In the technology department, there are plenty of features that come standard on the 2016 Ford C-Max Energi and contribute towards a better ride experience. There is Ford’s SYNC® 3 infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen, along with satellite radio, a USB port, and a six-speaker sound system. Furthermore, it comes standard with push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and voice commands. 

5. Plenty of cargo space 

The cargo capacity is another area that highlights the utility and functionality of the 2016 Ford C-Max Energi. It comes with 19.2 cu-ft of space behind the rear seats, which increases to 42.8 cu-ft with the rear seats folded. That's enough room for a few grocery bags or a couple of medium-sized suitcases for your next trip.
