Second generation Hyundai Genesis
Hyundai spun off Genesis as its own brand just two model years into the second generation of its midsize luxury sedan. With the change, the Hyundai Genesis would become the Genesis G80.
The redesigned Hyundai Genesis sported a new look for 2015, with a more prominent grille and a more elegant overall design. The car was only slightly longer, but the wheelbase grew by almost three inches.
It didn’t change under the hood, where buyers had the choice of a 3.8-liter V6 or a 5.0-liter V8, both smooth and both mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. New for this generation was available all-wheel drive; rear-wheel drive was standard.
The interior boasted premium materials and an eight-inch touchscreen that ran the Bluelink® infotainment interface, offering Google navigation search, Siri®-powered Eyes Free mode from Apple, a custom assistant app, and Google Glass integration.
At a time when driver-assist technology wasn’t ubiquitous, the Genesis featured automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
