About Polestar
Polestar is an electric vehicle brand that's relatively new to North America, though Volvo fans might recognize the name as it's an offshoot of the Swedish manufacturer. Polestar debuted in the U.S. in 2020 with the Polestar 1 and has since released the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3. These luxury electric vehicles offer a range of battery options and trim levels to help you find the car that suits your needs.
The Polestar 1 is a sleek coupe with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. All the other models are fully electric, with the Polestar 2 sedan at the center of the lineup. Look out for both standard and long-range models. The Polestar 3 SUV is new for 2025 and boasts the same sleek styling as its siblings.

If you're looking for an electric car, it's worth considering Polestar. These luxury vehicles come with a high level of standard equipment and a stylish interior. With the all-electric Polestar 2 and Polestar 3, you get impressive acceleration and firm handling that suits both city and highway driving.
Polestar is a premium brand and a relatively new entrant in the U.S. While the from-new pricing undercuts some other luxury EVs, it's a relatively new brand without a track record. However, the estimated range and level of luxury suggest it could be one to consider if you can find a good used model that suits your needs.
There are currently three main Polestar models available. The Polestar 1, Polestar 2, and Polestar 3. The Polestar 2 has three variants: a standard-range hatchback, a long-range dual-motor version, and a long-range single-motor version.
Polestar is no longer made by Volvo but is an offshoot of the brand. It was once the name used for Volvo's performance vehicles, and the two brands still share some heritage, which means you may see some similarities between Volvo electric cars and Polestars. Chinese manufacturer Geely now owns the brand.
No. When bought new, earlier models of Polestar vehicles were eligible for two years of free charging with Electrify America. Sadly, this is no longer true, as it was only for 2021 and 2022 models.
