2015 Ram Promaster City review

1. Functional cargo space 

The 2015 Ram ProMaster City has up to 131.7 cu-ft of cargo space. The 48.4-inch width between the wheel wells means it can haul a standard pallet. A 51.8-inch floor-to-ceiling height accepts kitchen and laundry appliances with ease — aided by a maximum estimated 1,883 lb payload capacity. If you have even more cargo that needs to get there on time, the 2015 Ram ProMaster City has a roof load capacity of 154 lbs, and the 2.4L provides a maximum estimated towing capacity of 2,000 lbs when properly equipped.  

2. Four-cylinder workhorse 

Small, but mighty. The 2015 ProMaster City has a standard 2.4L four-cylinder making 178 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. Connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission, it drives the front wheels as the only drivetrain choice. Get up to speed around town with a zero to 30 time of 3.7 seconds, or get on the highway with zero to 60 in 10.6 seconds when new, and save the gas station stop for later and go right to the client, with an EPA-estimated 24 mpg combined.

3. Cargo or Wagon 

The 2015 ProMaster City has two body configurations for maximizing cargo or people hauling. The ProMaster City Wagon seats five, perfect for hauling a work crew and their equipment. Behind the second row of seats is 79.6 cu-ft of cargo space, and with those seats folded, that jumps to 105.6 cu-ft. The ProMaster City Cargo has doors open 180 degrees for easier deliveries. The low cargo floor and liftover height save your back when unloading heavy cargo. 

4. City size 

Picture a “work van” and you might be thinking of a lumbering behemoth the size of a small school bus. At 187.5 inches long, the Ram ProMaster City is shorter than most midsize SUVs. At just over six feet tall, entrance and exits are easy, and loading cargo on the roof is convenient. Dart through heavy traffic, park in that small parking space, or pull into the customer’s small lot — you can do it all in this nimble van. With quick steering and agile handling, the ProMaster City is ideally sized for city streets. 

5. Tech to assist 

You don’t have to do it all here, as the ProMaster City includes standard features that help get work done. Standard electronic stability control and traction control keep your confidence high when traversing slushy streets or muddy job sites. The available five-inch touchscreen displays a rearview camera view when backing up to a loading dock. Rack-and-pinion steering helps deliver a compact 18-foot turning radius. Hill-start assist and trailer sway control are standard.
