Volvo delivers an exceptional SUV! 2021 Volvo XC90 Recharge PHEV

Pros

  • Seat Comfort

Seats offer so much comfort and adjustments. It has cool and heated seat functions. Plenty of room for the entire family.

  • Power

Motor feels very powerful for a 4cyl. Climbs hills with ease. It’s also super quiet.

  • Technology and Entertainment

It has a lot of tech features. The infotainment is simple and easy to use.

Cons

  • Ride and Handling

Steering feel is a little light for my taste. I wish it had more road feel, but my wife likes it.

  • Cost to Maintain

My first service was pretty expensive. Luckily it only needs servicing once a year.

Good car, clunky electronics 2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge PHEV

Pros

  • Fuel Economy

usually driven in electric only mode and plug-in at home. On the highway it gets good mileage as well.

  • Ride and Handling

Generally, it drives great. The only thing I would change would be the cruise control. When in cruise control you can only increase or decrease the speed in 5 mph increments from the steering wheel switch. Previously all of my other cars allowed you to do it in 1 mph increments.

  • Value

as a used car, it's a great value. We were looking for a PHEV that could tow over 5000 pounds and this was the only one that could really do that at an affordable price.

Cons

  • Technology and Entertainment

The technology for the infotainment system is very clunky. Also, there is no reason why you should have to go into the touch screen menu three layers deep to change the driving mode of the car. It's something that it's impractical to do while you're driving. to do this, you have to take your eyes off the road and focus on the touchscreen. You cannot do this safely while driving at the same time. Instead, you have to have your passenger change the driving mode. In my other PHEV car, it is relatively easy to do. There's a simple button on the center column that you just push to switch to the driving mode that you want to be in. You don't need to take your eyes off the road to change while driving. Or if you do, it's only briefly. I am also a little bit miffed that they call the electric mode 'pure' as opposed to simply all electric.

  • Value

it does not come with a spare tire. When we went to buy a spare tire for it. It was super expensive, over $600 from the dealer. Spare parts are very expensive.

Meh, over priced and not safe 2021 Volvo XC90 Recharge PHEV

Pros

  • Interior Space

    It's nice a roomy.

Cons

  • Cabin Noise

For a "luxury car" it is not very quiet in the interior. My Audi was much quieter.

  • Ride and Handling

The steering tends to randomly get loose and tight when the steering assist is off. Almost put me into on coming traffic.

  • Power

It has very awkward power shift when it goes from electric to gas. Has very minimal power then it just goes to full power. Very dangerous when in the middle of a turn and this happens.
