About the BMW 4-Series
The BMW 4 Series—with its innumerable options for combinations of body style, engine, and drivetrain—is like a submarine sandwich on wheels. Create your own story. Each iteration turns into something spectacular of your own creation. Launched in mid-2013, the BMW 4 Series is in its first generation. The BMW 4 Series offers seemingly endless tech features, interior comforts and plenty of curb appeal. The 4 Series, which wraps four to five passengers in a cocoon of luxury, is an excellent choice if you want an uncompromising engine and gorgeous design.

Q: What's the difference between BMW 3 and 4 series?
A: The 2019 BMW 3 Series is offered in sedan, wagon, and hatchback configurations; the 4 Series for the same model year is available as a coupe, convertible, or hatchback. Overall, the 2019 4 Series offers more power, with a 248-hp 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The 3 Series, on the other hand, offers the same engine, but with 180 hp.
Q: Does BMW 4 Series come in four-door?
A: The BMW 4 Series comes in two- and four-door body styles. The year after the 4 Series debut in 2013, BMW unveiled a 4 Series Gran Coupe, which is a four-door fastback.
Q: When did BMW introduce the 4 Series?
A: In 2013, BMW launched the new 4 Series as a two-door coupe or convertible. In 2014, the brand added a 4 Series Gran Coupe four-door to the mix.
Q: What's the difference between BMW 4 series and 5 series?
A: The difference between a BMW 4 Series and 5 Series is most evident in the four-door version of each: the 4 Series is considered a small car, and the 5 Series a midsize. Both the 2019 4 Series base model and the 2019 5 Series base model includes a 248-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The 4 Series Gran Coupe models have 17 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 45.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. The 5 Series trunk has a cargo capacity of 17 cubic feet, which is enough space for a large golf bag, baseball gear for a few kids, or luggage for your whole family.
BMW 4-Series Trim Configurations
Available as a two-door coupe or convertible, or four-door Gran Coupe, the 4 Series is offered with two engines and RWD is standard. For 2019, BMW has created this line in two trims: the 430i, which includes a four-cylinder engine, and the 440i, which contains a six-cylinder engine under the bonnet. You may choose a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission for the coupe; the BMW M4 version comes standard with a manual transmission while an automatic gearbox is optional.
A number of optional add-ons are also available, like a Track Handling package, Convenience Tier, and Executive Tier.
For 2019, the BMW 4 Series is offered in two trims:
- Ten-way power-adjustable front sport seats
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel
- Nine-speaker audio system with satellite radio, Bluetooth®, and a USB port
- Rain-sensing windshield wipers
- iDrive infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen display, navigation, and wireless Apple CarPlay®
- Includes all of the standard features with the six-cylinder engine as standard.
