Generation Overview

The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is part of this sedan's eighth generation (2013-2015), which debuted with revised engine offerings and extra insulation for a quieter ride, especially at highway speeds. This model year also saw the introduction of an available navigation system as a standalone option on most trims.

2013 Chevrolet Malibu Engine Options

The 2013 Malibu comes standard with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine at 197 hp on all but its Eco trim, which is outfitted with a 2.4L four-cylinder and electric motor at 182 hp.

Optional on the 3LT and 2LZ trims when the 2013 Malibu was sold new was a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder at 259 hp. If you're looking for more power under the hood, shop for a used 2013 Malibu with this engine.

Front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission are also standard on every 2013 Malibu.

2013 Chevrolet Malibu Interior

Trunk space on the 2013 Malibu is generous at 16.3 cubic feet for all but the Eco trim, which offers a slightly smaller 14.3-cubic-foot trunk due to its lithium-ion battery. The Eco trim also features a rear-seat pass-through rather than 60/40-split-folding seats. Either way, the 2013 Malibu is designed with a wide trunk opening to make loading and unloading cargo easier.

I'm 19. I got this car this year when I needed a new car. I walked into CarMax and my Malibu was there on the floor. It was beautiful. The color was great I loved the leather interior. I have the cream and brown. It had hardwood lining and an awesome up to date system. The person who owned it before me and put in an expensive Pioneer sound system and the car has no problem at all handling the base. It sounds crystal clear. I would say I have problems, but none. I drive 30 minutes to my barn and back everyday to school and I only have to fill up every 10-14 days!! I'm not a very fuel efficient driver and I get 28 miles per gallon. Fantastic. If anyone was looking for an awesome beginner car/new car/used car/well priced car. this.

  • Ride and Handling: So easy. Even easier than my bug.
  • Technology and Entertainment: Sirius XM, touchscreen, seat heaters.
  • Weather Versatility: Bad weather is never an issue.

Don’t buy!

I’ve had this car less than 6 months and it already ran hot several times. They receptionists told me it was probably a sensor. I kept explaining to them that it was not and it shouldn’t be doing that. They never had an opening to check it out. With such low mileage, my car shouldn’t have needed a water pump, 2 hoses, and a thermostat but it did. Thank God for the warranty, but I still paid for labor and radiator flush. Never again!

Wonderful car at a great price

Beautiful speedy car! I love my Malibu, I can start it from the comfort of my house which is great here in AZ during the winter. The heated seats come in handy too. Touch screen console; you can pair your device via Bluetooth. Though I wished it had navigation and s way to pair my garage opener to the car. Plus the help I received from Ron Gervais in Henderson, NV was great, he was not pushy at all and had my best interest in mind, I love Carmax!!!

  • Dashboard: Touch screen
  • Value: Great price
  • Cargo Space: Very specious

  • Fuel Economy: It seems like in town it eats up the gas more than traveling a distance
  • Technology and Entertainment: Wished it had navigation and to be able to pair the garage system with it
