EV for everyday or gas for longer trips!

A plug in EV with an engine/generator on board makes the most sense for remote Colorado! There simply are not the charging stations out there to be used on any longer trip. Having a 4 cyl. generator that can charge and run the car for 350 more miles is excellent engineering on Chevy's behalf. Maybe someday remote areas like Delta CO will have charging everywhere and it will be less than 30 min. but until then this car is the only sane answer! Love it!

Pros

  • Dashboard: Love the high integration of screen with everything you would ever want to see as well as phone and navigation screens.
  • Fuel Economy: On daily trips around town, the car is totally an EV. Longer than 50 miles the engine starts and keeps me moving. Overall this car can get 65miles/gal. in combined gas/EV mode.
  • Ride and Handling: Has a tight suspension, almost like a German BMW, firm around corners. That go cart feel yet irons out the bumps.

Cons

  • Cabin Noise: A bit more noisy that I'd like. But then it's a much newer car than I've ever had. I think they all are build 'cheaper' now days unless you spend 50K or more.
  • Seat Comfort: I have the "premier" version, yet it has fairly basic driver seats. No power anything there. Would have liked power tilt and height. But then I understand this car was already to high in cost when it was new due to all the advances in R&D that Chevy incurred designing it. Had to skimp somewhere.

Solid Vehicle - Good Value for the price

LTZ package is pretty loaded with features even being 4 years old. Great communication / information systems. Not a huge fan of the E-assist system which oscillates between 4 cylinder and 8-cylinder depending on driving conditions. It probably saves gas but seems to cause hesitation in the motor at lower RPMs as it cycles back and forth. Could be it needs adjustment. Great interior. The full cab (smaller rear doors) is a challenge for 4 people. Perfect for just two and gear. Drove the truck across country towing a trailer and it never missed a beat.

Pros

  • Power: Solid motor with great low-end torque and smooth top-end
  • Ride and Handling: Smooth ride and solid on the road
  • Styling: Great styling for all-around versatile truck.

Cons

  • Interior Space: Smaller cab doors don't allow for easy entry / exit into the back seat. Cramped for 4 adults.

Don’t buy until you research it

I’ve had nothing but issues with this car. First a ticking sound that ended up being a recalled part (it took me doing a ton of research and telling the mechanic what it was, and taking my car into Carnax 3 times to get it fixed.) Now, I’ve discovered after trying to get my oil changed that the bolt is stripped and they can’t get the cap off, I have to take it back to the dealer to have it replaced, and it takes a special oil that is going to cost $129. I bought this car thinking it would have more space than my Kia, it doesn’t, in fact, my little Kia had more! And don’t even get me started on how uncomfortable this car is for trips. We drive to Texas frequently for Cheer Comps and it is incredibly uncomfortable to drive even that distance. It would be okay, I think, for someone just driving around in the city for work or errands, I do LOVE my Apple CarPlay, and navigation system, but that’s it for me.

Pros

  • Technology and Entertainment: Apple CarPlay, Onstar, Sirius XM, and Navigation system are the things I love about it!

Cons

  • Cargo Space:
  • Cost to Maintain:
  • Cabin Noise:
