About the Chevrolet Express 2500

Vehicle Summary

The Chevrolet Express passenger van dates all the way back to 1996, when its first generation made its debut. Believe it or not, as of 2020, this full-size passenger van is still in its first generation of production—although it has seen some upgrades and changes throughout the years.

The Chevrolet Express 2500 refers specifically to this van's heavy-duty model, which falls in between the Express 1500 and 3500. Beginning with the 2015 model year, the Express 1500 was discontinued, leaving the 2500 and 3500 as the two models offered. If you're looking for a large van that can accommodate up to 12 people while offering additional cargo storage, a used Chevrolet Express 2500 might suit your needs.

While its overall design and size haven't changed much over the years, the powertrain you'll find on this model can vary greatly from one model year to the next. For example, the 2010 Express 2500 comes standard with a 6.0L V8 engine—but the 2015 model receives a standard 4.8L V8 instead. By 2019, a 4.3L V6 engine came equipped on the Express 2500, although a 2.8L four-cylinder diesel engine and the existing 6.0L V8 were optional when sold new.

The bottom line? If you're looking for a full-size passenger van with essentials like power windows/locks, air conditioning, and vinyl upholstery, a used 2019 Express 2500 can be a sensible choice. And if you opt for the top-tier LT trim over the base LS trim on the 2019 model, you can also enjoy some convenient driver-assistance features like lane-departure warning and forward-collision alert.

Reviews for Chevrolet Express 2500

Overall Rating

4.5 out of 5(2 reviews)

Chevrolet Express - #1 dependable large work vehicle

Other than the lack of left foot space on the floor and left door wind noise, this is a great vehicle. While my previous V6 Astro got 16.2 mpg, this V8 still gets 15.5. Great interior with huge rectangular working space once the 2nd and 3rd seats are removed. Comfortable front seats, good dashboard, clean design - only lacks an outdoor temperature indicator. Great driving and work vehicle.

Nice van engines little small. Gas mileage low

Very honest and upfront with you. I've had a couple issues and they've always been handled very quickly. Their customer service is very good even after you buy the car which is very rare
