Second of all you can’t put stuff in the rear compartment unless the full swing of the huge door is considered. If you have anything mounted to the tow-bar you can’t use the back hatch at all. The deck of the rear storage area is flush with the bumper - if you’ve been shopping and have to park in a driveway with a decline everything falls out. No compass on the instrument cluster. The “heating” system is a joke. There is no way to get hot air out in a cold day. There is no way to turn the heater off! If it is a cool sunny day and I’d like the flow of air!!!!

Description: Used 2015 Nissan Altima SL for sale - $19,998, 68,150 miles with Technology Package, Leather Seats, Sunroof(s), BOSE Sound System, Rear View Camera, Navigation System
Transmission: Automatic Color:Red Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (4.4186046511627906 reviews) My favorite car I've ever owned! The car is extremely quiet and smooth compared to an internal combustion engine (ICE). The horsepower, acceleration, and top speed compare favorably to an ICE car. Initially, I was concerned about the range (~90 miles total with full charge and perfect driving conditions). Like any car, driving habits make a huge difference in efficiency. Charging at home on 110v/15AMPs gives about 4-5 miles per hour on the charger. A level 2 charger (220v/30AMPs) at home or around town gives a full charge in a few hours. Given the length of my commute and school drop-off/pic-up (~6 miles one way), I find myself charging once or twice per week either overnight at home or while I work remotely from a cafe (never installed the at-home level 2 charger). Driving past fuel stations with prices at $3/gallon, I feel very good about not stopping in to refuel a couple times per week. Since 1 gallon of gas produces about 20lb of CO2 emissions, I estimate that I've saved at >1 ton of CO2 emissions to date. The interior space is slightly smaller than our Nissan Rogue, but since this is intended for short commutes, the smaller leg space is not a major issue. Storage behind the back seats is quite large; perfect for grabbing groceries and small to medium hardware runs. A simplified transmission means no gear changes as you're driving. GPS route navigation is great, but since you're driving mostly in familiar areas, it isn't as useful as in other cars. Using the cabin heat or A/C decreases range since it pulls energy from the battery. If you use the heated seats and steering wheel, there is no effect on the range and you stay plenty toasty. With the regenerative braking, and noticeable effects of driving habits on efficiency, you'll likely adopt a more casual/slower driving habits to extend range. If charging at home on a 110v/20AMP circuit, you should ensure no other devices are pulling on this circuit as you charge or you may trip a breaker.

Crappy car, but gets us from A to B - so far

It is too low to the ground, it is a sedan chassis, I want a truck chassis. The rear opening is one piece - window & “tailgate” combined. First off, there is no tailgate!

Pros

  • Reliability: Has gotten us where we need to go for almost 6 months.
  • Fuel Economy: Good fuel economy.

Cons

  • Power: Like driving a sewing machine.
  • Visibility: The rear window is angled upward, visibility is awful and I don’t feel safe. The backup camera is sketchy at best. I avoid all backup situations.
  • Interior Space: You can’t fit a 4x8 sheet of lumber in it, you can’t fit anything longer than 8’ (and that’s a squeeze) in the cabin. If the car had a split rear door it would help, if the “Roof rack” had horizontal bars in addition to the vertical bars, maybe we’d have a workable system. As it is - not so much.

Altima 3.5 Liter power when you need it/want it

The Nissan Altima is an endurance vehicle. It will last for 200k - 300k or more. It has the room of a luxury car. In my opinion it is a luxury car. The 3.5 Liter engine is very responsive. When you start off from a stop at a light or a stop sign you can feel the power as the car moves off the line. It may use more fuel than the 2.5 Liter Altima but the trade-off is the performance. Watch out though! The insurance companies put the Altima 3.5 Liter model in the High Performance class. Yes, they extort more payola for the 3.5 Liter model.

Pros

  • Power: Who doesn't like the power when you need it or want it?
  • Ride and Handling: With larger wheels and tires than the 2.5 Liter Altima, the 3.5 Liter model handles better in all conditions.
  • Safety: The ride and handling at freeway speeds lends the car to better safety ratings.

Cons

  • Fuel Economy: As it is a 6 cylinder motor it does not have the fuel economy of the smaller engine. Oh, well.
  • Seat Comfort: If the Altima 3.5 Liter had upgraded seats then this car would truly be a luxury model.
  • Technology and Entertainment: In the 2016 model the software does not allow Android devices to link with the car's software features.

Hope I never go back to gasoline car!

My favorite car I've ever owned! The car is extremely quiet and smooth compared to an internal combustion engine (ICE). The horsepower, acceleration, and top speed compare favorably to an ICE car. If charging at home on a 110v/20AMP circuit, you should ensure no other devices are pulling on this circuit as you charge or you may trip a breaker.

Pros

  • Braking: regenerative braking saves wear and tear on pads
  • Cabin Noise: MUCH quieter than any gas or diesel car I've been in
  • Cost to Maintain: Far fewer moving parts means less maintenance!

Cons

  • Weather Versatility: battery seems to drain faster in cold weather
