Its a cute little car. I Have no problems mechanically with it. I purposefully bought the base model and manual thinking I would get the best gas mileage as possible. Going about 75 MPH your RPM's run extremely high. I was bummed i have A/C but that's my own fault. But with all of that and driving on the interstate ( I commute about 99 miles one way to work) I only get about 26 MPG. Plus side, it only costs about 25 to fill up. Definitely don't want to drive it in any kind of snow or sleet. Don't think it would hold up very well. Overall its a good car starter car.
Practical, comfortable car with fuel economy
2014 Kia SoulKenneth Johnson - Crete, IL06/14/2016
The Soul manual operates very easily. Fuel economy is excellent, always above the EPA estimate. Lots of interior and cargo space. If you want the manual, Kia has "decontented" the car. All of the 2014 and later manuals, for instance, do not have cruise control. Many Souls have no spare tire.
Big Bang for Your Buck
2011 Kia SoulChar Martin - Lexington, KY05/04/2015
I'm a big fan of the Kia Soul. It's fun to drive, economical, reliable, enormously cute, the back seats fold down flat creating a very usable cargo space, and you can find it in a parking lot. That being said, there are a few things about my Soul that are not so great: The microfiber upholstery shows everything and stains easily, the ride is not as smooth and quiet as many other automobiles, and there is a blind spot toward the rear (but you can learn to compensate for that).
I have looked at a 2015 Soul and been astonished at the changes in the model from prior years. Some of the bells and whistles available on the new models are downright luxurious - leather upholstery, heated AND cooled seats, full ceiling sun roofs, GPS, etc.
