My wife's previous car, a 1997 Ford Explorer, finallly gave up at 330000 miles. She would not even consider a minivan or passenger car for a replacement. She liked the size of a Ford Expedition but she wanted something more flashy. Hence the Navigator. She settled on Navigator Ultimate model. Since I do all of my own maintance on our vehicles I explained to her that this was a very complicated vehicle to service and maintain. Her response was so! So far nothing I have not been able to handle.
It is a large vehicle that handles and drives like a much smaller one. The four wheel air suspension is great for loading the vehicle up with cargo and people. ABS works flawlessly as do the heated and cooled front seats. Routine maintance (oil changes) are easily preformed. The six speed ZF automatic transmission shifts flawlessly as does the automatic climate control system. Her only complaint is the required use of premium fuel. Gasoline consumption is about we expected for a 5500 pound vehicle with a V8 engine. Speaking of the motor, I feel it has adequate power for the vehicle, some people do not. I would never buy one new because of huge initial cost and low residule value. Used it made great sence. All in all a very cool and luxiourous ride.
