About the 2018 Mazda Mazda6

Vehicle Summary

Looking to add a little zoom to the commute? If you want a four-door sedan with a distinctively sporty look and feel, the 2018 Mazda Mazda6 is the vehicle to choose. You’ll find upscale styling inside and out with the sports sedan-like handling dynamics to match. You’ll also find an abundance of standard features, from LED headlights to blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. While the standard 2.5L SKYACTIV®-G four-cylinder engine delivers good performance, your inner gearhead will long for the turbocharged version of the same engine. If you love rowing your own gears, then you’ll enjoy the Sport trim’s six-speed manual transmission. The 2018 Mazda Mazda6 makes sense if you need a sensible family sedan, but want one that gives you a little more driving excitement and upscale flair.

Generation Overview

Initially launched in 2014, the third-generation Mazda Mazda6 saw plenty of changes for the 2018 model year. Cosmetic changes for the sporty midsize sedan include a freshened-up front and rear fascia, new aluminum alloy wheel designs and a revamped dashboard with upgraded interior materials. Under the hood, the 2018 Mazda6 gains a turbocharged variant of the standard 2.5L SKYACTIV-G inline-four. The standard engine also gains cylinder deactivation, when paired with an automatic transmission, in an effort to boost efficiency. Trim levels for the 2018 Mazda Mazda6 include the base Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve and Signature.

The Sport trim comes with a healthy level of standard features, including LED lighting front and rear, dual-zone climate control, cloth seats and the MAZDA CONNECT infotainment system with an eight-inch touch-screen display, a six-speaker sound system and Mazda’s Multifunction Commander controller. You’ll also get driver-assistive features like Smart City Brake Support and an advanced blind spot monitoring system. The Touring trim adds keyless entry, heated front seats, rear A/C vents and sport seats covered in leatherette.

The Sport and Touring trims get their motivation from the 2.5L SKYACTIV-G inline-four, rated at 187 hp. Both trims could be had with a six-speed automatic, but the available six-speed manual was limited to the sport trim. The manual-equipped 2018 Mazda Mazda6 achieves an EPA-estimated 27 combined MPG, while automatic-equipped models with the 2.5L inline-four achieve 29 mpg.1

The Grand Touring not only adds features like an 11-speaker audio system and navigation, but you’ll also get the 2.5L turbocharged SKYACTIV-G inline-four. Rated at 250 hp and mated solely to the six-speed automatic transmission, you’ll get an EPA-estimated 26 combined MPG.1 Other feature highlights include heated side mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and available SiriusXM® satellite radio.2

The Grand Touring Reserve trim adds even more features for the 2018 Mazda Mazda6, including leather-trimmed seats, a heated steering wheel, the Traffic Sign Recognition system and a head-up display. A rear spoiler and 19-inch wheels help complete the Grand Touring Reserve’s upscale looks. The top-tier Signature trim offers a distinctive gunmetal front grille, plus Nappa leather seating with Ultrasuede® accents, real wood accents and a 360-degree view monitor. The Signature trim also adds front and rear parking sensors and a frameless rearview mirror.
