Grocery Getter with Get Up N Go
2005 Subaru OutbackUrban Farmer - Fort Worth, TX01/19/2012
My wife needed a new car to drive around our new baby and pick up groceries. She is very picky and settled on this car from the first test drive. There were a few issues with the car right from the start, but they were minor and CarMax fixed them right away. The car has some miles on it, but it doesn't feel like it. I recommend to anyone who has a need for a station wagon style vehicle. It is fun to drive and very secure. The night we bought it it was pouring rain and I drove it home thinking it felt like a dry summer day on the road. AWD is really neat.
Fuel efficient, road hugging, spacious, nice amenities and very comfortable. With its 6-speed switchable automatic/manual transmission its at home on the highway as on two lane windey mountain roads -- a real pleasure to drive; I thought I would miss the 5-speed of my Scion xA but the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters fill in just fine. My driving is 50/50 Interstate and surface and my Outback consistently gets around 30mpg. With the rear seats lowered it has more cargo area than my son's Jeep Grand Cherokee.
