Generation Overview

The first Toyota Camry Hybrid appeared in showrooms in 2009. The 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid is part of the fifth generation of the wide-body brand that has been getting commuters to work in style and comfort. The latest generation was introduced to America for model year 2018, but there is still lots to love in the previous iteration. The hybrid 2.5L four-cylinder gas engine and 149 kW electric motor produces a net 200 hp and stretches your fuel economy up to an EPA-estimated 42 mpg highway.1 Experience a smooth ride with front-wheel drive and the continuously-variable transmission. The Hybrid SE adds a set of paddle shifters should you prefer to work the gears. The trunk is surprisingly roomy, with over 13 cubic feet available for shopping bags, briefcases, and luggage while your family of five enjoys a wealth of head and legroom in the front and back.

Toyota delivered three trims for the 2017 Hybrid Camry beginning with the LE starting the party. On the entry-level trim you have heated power side mirrors, automatic climate control, Bluetooth® hands-free calling and audio streaming, a smart key, and backup camera. The Hybrid SE is the sporting trim and features black exterior accents, chrome exhaust, a rear spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels, and paddle shifters. In the Hybrid XLE, LED daytime running lamps, wireless smartphone charging, rear heating vents, navigation, and leather-trimmed front seats with heat provide the extra amenities you might be seeking in a luxury ride.2

The suite of driver assist features is highlighted by adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and pedestrian detection with autonomous braking and was offered as an optional package on the XLE when sold as new. The smart key system unlocks the driver's door and the trunk when you stand next to the vehicle and allows you to simply press start to turn over the ignition. Should you want one-touch emergency services, the sedan is equipped with the Safety Connect® system that requires activation and a subscription for roadside assistance, stolen vehicle locator, and collision notification.2
